ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

Fostering integrity in its students has been central to the AOLP philosophy since its founding. In further fulfillment of its commitment to Character Education, the Academy has also built into its WASC strategic plan an Academic Integrity component of its formal curriculum.

For the past several years, OLP has focused its teaching strategies on the creation of an Academic Integrity Policy and classroom instruction that supports students in avoiding instances of plagiarism. A new focus in professional development this year is the participation of all faculty in reading and discussion groups that help us guide our students in recognizing the meaning of academic integrity, the psychological and sociological factors that pressure students to cheat, and ways that parents and educational communities can support the development of honesty and integrity.

Parents are invited to study one or more of the following resources with us this year, and to share the results of their reading with their families.
