Who staffs the Academy of Our Lady of Peace?

How large is the student body?
The Academy operates with full enrollment numbering 740-750 students.
How large are individual classes?
Class size averages 28 students.
What are the requirements for admission?
In accordance with the Civil Rights Act of 1974, the Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in its admission policies. Criteria for admission include:
Is there tuition assistance available?
The amount of aid that is given is related to the financial need of our families, and is controlled by a committee. The need must be documented, including two forms accompanied by completed tax returns of previous year are necessary. The forms will be made available to accepted families beginning the night of freshman enrollment, they must be completed by the first week of April. Notification of the committee’s decisions are made the last week of May.
Are there special costs aside from tuition?
There are a few extra costs while your daughter is at the Academy, one of which occurs if our daughter participates in a sports activity. There are also extra costs involved during your daughter's senior year. Book fees are included in the tuition.
Is there a uniform?
There is a uniform consisting of a gray skirt or blue/gray plaid skirt, a white button-down blouse, or (gray, navy, white) polo with OLP insignia and khaki or navy blue walking shorts and sweater. Slacks and jackets are optional. Uniforms are purchased from Mills Uniform Co. in Hazard Center, San Diego. Visit Mills Uniform Co.
Is there bus service to OLP?
At this time, there is no OLP bus service. Some students take the public bus system, the #11 line runs along Adams Avenue. Most students carpool to school. Seniors are given special parking spaces.
Is there a cafeteria on campus?
No, but cold and hot food machines and microwaves are available.
Is there an Alumnae Association?
There is a very active alumnae association with a mailing list with more than 4,300 graduates. Alumnae meetings are held monthly, an alumnae newsletter is published quarterly, and a variety of activities are held on class levels throughout the year. Click here to visit the Alumnae page.
When is the Placement Test?
The Placement Test will be given on a Saturday in late January beginning at 8:00 a.m. There is a $50 fee required for this test. Students are asked to be on campus by 7:45 a.m. Click here to visit the Admissions page for more information.
